Creating Social Menus

Rough Pixels makes most, if not all, social links as menus. Although this is related to the Creating Menus tutorial, this one is a bit different. When you insert the full URL as a custom link and then assign this menu to a social menu location, it applies the appropriate icon…like this example from the Prologe theme demo:

To create a social menu, start with the Creating Menus tutorial.

  1. You will add each social network by pasting in their respective URL into Custom Links the box under Add Menu Items column. For example, we would enter https://twitter.com/roughpixels for our twitter profile URL.
  2. Drag your new menu item(s) into your new menu
  3. Assign your social menu to any social menu location that is found under Menu Settings
  4. Click the Save Menu button

NOTE: Our themes will have the most common social networks coded into them to inherit their icons.
